21st of November 2008 on the territory of the Ventspils port started its work a modern and environmentally friendly terminal. ОTotal amount of investments of the first stage of JSC "Baltic Coal Terminal" is 75 million euro (52.71 million lats).It includes both - bank financing and private investment of the JSC "BALTIC COAL TERMINAL" shareholders - company Ventspils tirdzniecibas osta and Indtec Baltic Coal. JSC "Baltic Coal Terminal"
was established in the beginning of year 2005, by the company “Ventspils tirdzniecibas osta” and "Indtec Baltic Coal" - a subsidiary of the Netherlands entrepreneurial society INDTEC Finanse B. V. In turn INDTEC Finanse B. V. is the owner and investor of the Russian coal mine "Zarechnaja" in the Kuzbass coal basin in Russia. In the board and council of JSC "BALTIC COAL TERMINAL" are a number of Ukrainian businessmen. Company's share capital is 13,176 million lats.

Particular attention in the project is paid to avoid any adverse impact on the environment with the activity of JSC" BALTIC COAL TERMINAL» - using fully covered technology of coal transhipment. The railcars are unloaded quickly and accurately without damage (which may be done by traditional grab method), with the use of dust suppression systems in all stages of coal transfer. Coal goes through on additional crushing and thorough two-level of magnetic separation.
